Overseas IP Risk Management Seminar in Nanjing, September 6, 2019

Three attorneys in Kim & Chang's IP Practice – Sun-Young Park (Korean Trademark/Design Attorney), Flora Qiqiao Zhang (Chinese Patent Attorney & Attorney at Law), and Younghoon Park (Korean Patent Attorney) – were invited to speak at a seminar on overseas IP risk management for export-oriented enterprises, which was held in Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province, China on September 6, 2019.  During the morning session, Ms. Park presented on "Overview of the Korean Trademark Filing System and Strategies," sharing her insights on trademark filing and prosecution, along with the introduction of the Unfair Competition Prevention and Trade Secret Protection Act (UCPA) and recent trade dress cases, while Ms. Zhang and Mr. Park co-presented on "Recent Trends of the Korean Patent Practice," highlighting recent key developments, case studies, and unique practical aspects of Korean patent system including design practice.

 

Hosted by the Intellectual Property Office of Jiangsu Province along with the Nanjing Intellectual Property Office, the seminar proved to be a unique platform, bringing together approximately 200 Chinese high-tech industry representatives and IP practitioners to network and to enhance the understanding of the challenges and strategic considerations for IP protection and management in the Korean market.
