On August 26, 2022, Sun Young Park (Patent Attorney) and Huilian Kang (Chinese Patent Attorney), members of Kim & Chang’s Intellectual Property Practice, were invited to speak at an online lecture organized by Development Zone Branch in China’s Yantai Administration for Market Regulation, and co-directed and supported by Hengqin International Intellectual Property Trading Center. 

Under the topic of "Korean Patent and Trademark Systems," Ms. Park presented on an overview of trademark prosecution practice and recently amended laws, the latest trends related to metaverse and trademark rights, and trademark opposition and trial systems along with major cases. Ms. Kang presented on the patent prosecution practice and unique aspects of Korean patent system including examination procedure of PCT national phase entry and recently amended laws.

The seminar was well-received by more than 40 companies located in the development zone of Yantai City as a great opportunity to enhance their understanding on trademark and patent protection strategy in Korea and the differences in IP systems between the two countries.
