Overview

Hyewon Kang joined Kim & Chang in 2010 and is a patent attorney in the firm's Chemical Practice Group. 

She received her BS (2002), MS (2004) and Ph.D. (2009) in Chemical Engineering from Seoul National University. Ms. Kang was admitted to the Korean Patent Bar in 2009. Before joining the firm she worked at LG Display as an research engineer from 2004 to 2005.  She completed the U.S. Law and Policy Program at the University of San Diego, School of Law in 2018.  In addition, She was selected as the "Patent Rising Star" at the Rising Stars Awards Asia-Pacific 2021 hosted by IFLR (International Financial Law Review).

Ms. Kang's practice focuses on a wide range of intellectual property matters.  Major customers are Korean, US, EU and Japanese companies in various technology fields such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, semiconductor, secondary battery, display, bio, cosmetics, etc., and has a lot of work experience in patent-related trials and lawsuits.  Based on her expertise and experiences in related fields, she is also involved in works related to patent listing system, trade secrets, export control, and the like.
