Ms. Kwon has managed and advised on a vast number of trademark portfolios for various global and international companies for 30 more years.

She provides creative strategies for her clients, and in doing so, is a pioneer in her field, contributing in the development of new case law and enforcing her clients' intellectual property rights in Korea.

She has a deep and thorough understanding of her clients’ various businesses and industries, which allows her to provide practical advice.

In addition, she is active in various IP related organizations such as KOTA and AIPPI in Korea. She frequently submits opinions and participates as a board member of such organizations.

Ms. Kwon was a member of the Korean Intellectual Property Office’s Geographical Indications Protection Strategy Committee in 2002 and Committee on Amendments to the Trademark and Design Acts in 2000. Additionally, Ms. Kwon was a member of the Anti-Counterfeiting Committee of the Asia Patent Attorney Association from 2003 to 2009. She is currently a vice-chairman of board for the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and also a member of the Korean Trademark and Design Association and Intellectual Property Rights Dispute Resolution Committee (KOIPA).

Ms. Kwon has also participated in the Committee on Amendment to the Trademark and Design Acts and the Geographical Indications Protection Strategy Committee of the Korean Intellectual Property Office.

In addition, Ms. Kwon has received various awards and recognitions for her IP-related expertise by global media. To highlight some of her accomplishments, She has been honored as an "Trademark Star" in Managing IP Stars by Euromoney (2014-2023), as a "Leading Attorney" by Who's Who Legal (2016, 2021-2023), as a "Powerful Women in IP" by WIPF(2021), and as a "Recognized/Noted Practitioner" in Chambers Asia-Pacific by Chambers and Partners (2014-2018).

She has co-authored various publications, including "Hermès Successfully Protects Rights in Design of Birkin and Kelly Bags" (World Trademark Review Daily) and "Recent Patent Court Judgments on the Similarity of Trademarks as a Whole" (IP Review).

Ms. Kwon received her B.A. in English Literature from Yonsei University in 1987 and was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law in 1995. She is admitted to the Korean Patent Bar.

  • Represented a global fashion company against a local manufacturing company for violating the new catch-all provision of the Korean Unfair Competition Prevention and Trade Secret Protection Act (UCPA) 
  • Represented a famous sporting goods company against a manufacturer in the business of refinishing and reselling original products. This case is significant because the Korean court rendered that the use of the original trademarks on such “lost” or “refinished” products by the refinisher constitutes infringement of the trademark rights of the original manufacturer, in contrast with other jurisdictions such as the US
