Overview

In Hwan Kim is a senior foreign attorney at Kim & Chang specializing in all aspects of intellectual property law. 

Mr. Kim has been admitted to the California and U.S. Patent Bars. 

Before joining Kim & Chang in 2004, Mr. Kim gained significant experience in intellectual property law, particularly in patent prosecution and litigation, at Stetina, Brunda, Garred & Brucker. He also worked at the Newport Beach City Attorney's Office, handling various municipal and contract matters, and the U.C. Police Department as a community service officer. 

At Kim & Chang, Mr. Kim specializes in complex patent litigations representing leading multinational companies. He has successfully counseled clients in numerous high-profile cases including those involving controversial matters addressed for the first time in Korea such as issues relating to drug price recapture, selection inventions, profile patents and inventive effects. Mr. Kim also handles a broad range of other intellectual property matters including prosecution, trademark and copyright disputes, opinion work, transactional and regulatory matters, portfolio management and intellectual property-related criminal actions. He has been involved in many trademark and copyright litigations representing various clients such as leading luxury brands in infringement, counterfeiting and ownership disputes. Mr. Kim also has extensive experience in product liability cases, pharmaceutical, chemical and medical device regulatory issues, homologation procedures regarding automobiles and parts, fair trade law matters, government relations and licensing negotiations.
