Overview

Mr. Lee’s practice covers a variety of intellectual property matters ranging from litigation, prosecution, portfolio management, transactions to licensing negotiations and due diligence.  In particular, he has extensive experience in patent dispute cases such as patent infringement lawsuits and patent trial cases (invalidation actions, rights scope confirmation actions).  He has in-depth expertise in electronic/electrical technology fields, especially including wireless communications, computers, software, semiconductors, and displays.  Based on his expertise in technology and industry, Mr. Lee has successfully handled many dispute cases on behalf of domestic and foreign companies, including major multi-jurisdictional patent disputes between multinational corporations.  He also works on cases related to unfair competition practices and trade secrets, and international trade and customs where technologies are key issues.

Prior to joining Kim & Chang in 2004, Mr. Lee worked at Samsung Electronics for about 6 years as a senior engineer in the wireless communication division, where he designed software for mobile phones and worked as a member of task force team to develop new core chipsets for mobile phones.  Also, working as a member of the in-house intellectual property team of Samsung Electronics, he had experience in IP related transactions and patent licensing support.  Mr. Lee received his B.E. and M.E. in Computer Engineering (1996, 1998) from Seoul National University, and LL.M. (2010) from Duke University School of Law.
