Before joining Kim & Chang, Mr. Kim practiced IP law at US law firms, specializing in patent litigation, preparation and prosecution of patent applications, and strategic IP counseling. He has represented numerous clients in a wide range of technical areas, including mobile devices, displays, digital and analog electronics, hard disk drives, semiconductor manufacturing, autonomous driving, electric vehicles, navigation systems, optical devices, lasers, batteries, medical devices, and smartphone operating systems.

He has represented numerous clients in a wide range of technical areas, including mobile devices, displays (OLED, LCD), digital and analog electronics, hard disk drives, autonomous driving, electric vehicles, navigation systems, optical devices, batteries, medical devices, and smartphone operating systems (Android, iOS). Mr. Kim has extensive experience with various communications standards, including cellular (3G, 4G, 5G), Wi-Fi (802.11), Ethernet (802.3), Bluetooth and BLE (802.15.1), and the related standard essential patents.Mr. Kim has extensive experience with various communications standards, including cellular, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth and BLE, and the related standard essential patents. 

Before his legal career, Mr. Kim worked as a research scientist/engineer, designing and building electronics for particle detectors at European Council for Nuclear Research (CERN), optical and ultrasonic interferometers for testing defects in silicon wafers at IBM, digital compasses at Precision Navigation System, and tool monitoring systems at AP Research. He holds US patents in the digital compass and tool monitoring technologies.
