Myung-Yoon Woo is a patent attorney in the firm's Electrical/Software Practice Group. He received his B.E. in Electrical Engineering (2010) from Seoul National University and was admitted to the Korean Patent Bar (2011). Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Woo worked as a software engineer at EnGIS Technology where he developed embedded navigation software for leading automobile manufacturers. Mr. Woo has high level of expertise in a wide range of technology areas, including software, autonomous driving, computer architecture, wireless communications, and semiconductor devices & integrated circuits. His practice covers a variety of intellectual property matters, including patent prosecution, patent mapping, prior art search, patent litigation including infringement action, scope confirmation actions, and invalidity actions.
Mr. Woo has prosecuted hundreds of patent applications before the Korean Intellectual Property Office, including appeals to the Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board (IPTAB) against final rejections. Further, he has successfully represented several international companies in patent infringement action, scope confirmation actions, and invalidity actions. In the course of patent disputes, Mr. Woo has conducted patent infringement analysis and patent validity analysis including conducting prior art searches for US, JP, and European references against several Korean patents and preparing patent analysis report thereon. Mr. Woo also has presented technical presentations before the IPTAB in invalidity actions and drafted briefs filed before Seoul District court and IPTAB. Based on his knowledge of various fields including software and semiconductor, he also provided technical support in non-patent disputes.
