Online Lecture at Shanghai Intellectual Property Service Center's Training Session

On July 9, 2021, members of Kim & Chang's China IP Practice were invited to speak as online lecturers at a training session held simultaneously online and in-person, hosted by the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration and organized by the Shanghai Intellectual Property Service Center.

Under the subject of "PCT Application Practice in Korea," Seong-Woon Kim (Korean patent attorney) led the session, Young-Lan Cha (Korean patent attorney) presented on recent trends in PCT applications in Korea and procedures after entering the Korean national phase in comparison with Chinese practice, and Na Xie (Chinese attorney) shared considerations and practical tips that Chinese applicants need to know when filing applications in Korea.  In addition, Kyu-Bin Lim and In-Kyu Jung (Korean patent attorneys) also participated in the overall preparation, significantly contributing to the content and smooth delivery of the lecture.

Organized to popularize relevant knowledge and procedures of international patent applications, the session was well-received by more than 170 IP officials and practitioners from government agencies and corporations, etc., in Shanghai and its vicinity.  The lecture is expected to serve useful in enhancing Chinese applicants' understanding on Korean application practice and differences in IP systems between the two countries.
