Flora Qiqiao Zhang is a senior Chinese patent attorney and attorney at law in the Intellectual Property (IP) Practice Group at Kim & Chang. With a profound understanding of both Chinese and Korean IP systems, Ms. Zhang excels at devising comprehensive strategies for patent and design prosecution, enforcement, and transactions for multinational clients, with a particular emphasis on guiding Chinese clients as they enter the Korean market.

Ms. Zhang holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, an interdisciplinary field integrating electronics and life sciences. Since beginning her patent career in 2004, she has accumulated over 20 years of experience across borders and technologies. Throughout her career, she has had the privilege of assisting leading companies from Korea, China, and the United States in diverse technical fields, including telecommunications (with a focus on standard-essential patents, SEP), image and video coding (SEP), mobile devices, semiconductors, medical devices, and biopharmaceuticals.

As a key member of the firm’s China client representation team, she has leveraged her extensive experience to defend Chinese clients in Korea in matters involving SEP and non-SEP patent and design licensing negotiations, invalidation proceedings, patent scope confirmation actions, civil litigation, and Korea Trade Commission (KTC) investigations. She and her team have developed significant expertise in identifying strong prior art and crafting compelling arguments. Their work is consistently guided by cost-efficiency and the clients’ commercial objectives, earning Ms. Zhang high praise for her adept coordination and innovative approach.

In 2023, Ms. Zhang was recognized as one of the Korea Super 30 Lawyers by Asian Legal Business. She has also been listed as an IAM Patent 1000 – The World’s Leading Patent Professionals for 2025.
