Flora Qiqiao Zhang is a foreign attorney at law/patent attorney in the intellectual property (IP) practice group of Kim & Chang.
Ms. Zhang’s practice covers patent prosecution, invalidation, litigation, technology transfer and IP due diligence. She has high level of expertise in a wide range of technical fields, specializing in telecommunication, semiconductors, mobile terminals and medical devices. Ms. Zhang has a thorough understanding of difference between Chinese patent authority and other country, so she is good at providing overall patent strategies, prosecuting and enforcing patents according to Chinese practice.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Zhang worked as a senior associate in Chinese top-tier law firms JunHe & AllBright, where she gained extensive experience of patent invalidation& litigation, freedom to operation analysis, technology transfer and prosecution practice. For example, in 2016 she represented the Chinese mobile company Meizu in its patent lawsuits against Qualcomm in China by providing overall litigation strategies, conducting patent invalidation analysis and participating in oral procedures, and defending the patent infringement litigation cases in district IP court.
Moreover, she had also worked at Korean patent firms for around 7 years as a Chinese patent counsel, where she had assisted several famous Korean companies on their Chinese patent prosecution. Especially, Ms. Zhang had prepared around one thousand Chinese patent applications, directly communicated with the Chinese examiners, amending claims and drafting Chinese Remarks for responding to the Chinese Office Actions on behalf of Korean clients.
